As young women raised in the heart of our community, the founders of Green Dada have firsthand experience of the challenges faced by adolescent girls. Limited opportunities, a lack of access to quality education, and navigating a complex environment shaped our early years. Yet, these experiences ignited a spark within us – a determination to create a different reality for the next generation.
The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 served as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by our community, particularly young girls. Witnessing the surge in teenage pregnancies amidst school closures fueled our resolve. We couldn’t stand idly by. With a shared passion for empowering girls and building a sustainable future, we embarked on a journey to make a tangible difference.
Our initial efforts involved volunteering our time to mentor young girls and advocate for greener, healthier slums. This grassroots work quickly revealed the depth of the issues and the urgent need for a more comprehensive approach. Driven by this realization, we founded Green Dada CBO in late 2023.
Today, Green Dada CBO stands as a testament to our commitment to empowering girls. We’ve transitioned from small-scale initiatives to a registered organization championing a holistic approach to girls’ development. Our focus on education, environmental sustainability, sexual and reproductive health, sports, and leadership is rooted in our belief that every girl deserves the opportunity to reach her full potential.
Our story is one of resilience, determination, and a deep-rooted connection to our community. We are committed to creating a lasting impact, one empowered girl at a time.
